Nirgrum Fulgur is a small, founder-led IT consultancy and the parent company of a family of ventures. We help organizations get Azure and Microsoft Entra ID right—and we prove our methods on businesses of our own. We work remotely across the US and on-site in Cincinnati, OH.
The name
Why “black lightning”?
Fulgur is Latin for lightning, and nigrum for black. Nirgrum Fulgur is our twist on that pairing: black lightning.
Lightning is fast and precise, and it lands exactly where the energy needs to go. The best technology work is the same—but it should also be quiet. When your identity, cloud and software are done right, nobody notices the infrastructure. They just notice that everything works.
That’s the standard we hold ourselves to: decisive, well-aimed work that disappears into the background of a business running smoothly.

Ben Wissel
Founder & Principal Consultant, Nirgrum Fulgur LLC
I've worked in IT for decades, and I've done most of the jobs along the way.
I started where a lot of us did: setting up hardware, managing networks and supporting the people who depended on them. That grounding still shapes how I work. Technology has to be dependable for the people who use it every day.
From there my career grew into database design and reporting, turning raw data into information people could act on, and then into application development, building the systems themselves. More recently I've focused on the Azure cloud: designing, securing and automating platforms with Microsoft Entra ID, infrastructure as code and Azure DevOps. And like everyone in this field, I've embraced the AI revolution, using AI to build better and faster, and building it into the products I deliver. This website is a case in point: it was built over a single weekend with AI-assisted development, using our Claude AI licensing, and held to the same standards as client work, with automated tests, infrastructure as code and a gated deployment pipeline.
Nirgrum Fulgur is deliberately small. When you work with us, you work with me directly, joined by a trusted colleague or two when a project calls for it. There are no account managers and no hand-offs to junior staff. Manage Your Means, our first venture, is where all of that experience comes together, from the database to the cloud to the AI agent that works alongside it.
